I'm doing this as a way for me to track my progress and also maybe pass on what I'm learning about food and our relationship with it. If you're interested in this and want to see what happens, keep reading, if not - see ya!
I'm not fat by any means, I'm thin-an average girl. This is not a weight loss blog. More of a lifestyle blog.
I'm not about to be the skinny girl complaining "I'm so fat." all the time when they're clearly not.
(If you're one of these girls-stop! It makes everyone annoyed and uncomfortable.)
ANYWAYS.
I'm just not exactly healthy and I'd like to be.
Being thin and being healthy are two different things.
Gwen Stefani is thin and healthy.
Amy Winehouse was also thin.
You can see the difference I'm talking about.
Before this past month, I'd have fast food, chips, coffee, candy, smoke cigarettes, and drink a million diet cokes. All crap with pretty much no nutritional value at all. Just using my body as a dumpster basically to load up with garbage.
I'm not saying I will never have any of those things ever again in my life, realistically I will. Just a LOT less of it. So far I've cut it all out without any issues.
I started to watch documentaries about food that talk about what the foods we're ingesting are really made of, what those words we can't really pronounce on the food labels really are, and basically just learned that we are willingly making ourselves sick-slowly. Foods only purpose is to provide us with nutrition and to keep our body healthy. Nothing else. My relationship with food has never been that way at all.
Basically what I've learned so far is - no food you eat should consist of something that doesn't come in it's original form in nature. It should mostly come from the ground, BUT corn is your enemy.
ORGANIC Whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. That's it.
A lot of us already know this, this isn't really news to anyone. Not many of us are actually doing it though. That's everyone's own prerogative.
I only know for myself that I'd rather not end up suffering with different illnesses and cancers or age my body quicker than it will naturally.
I should also warn you now-if you get offended easily and don't like any kind of profanity or are looking for some kind of sugar coating, I can't promise you you won't see that here. I curse like a sailor-I write how I think-but I get my point across and I always mean well, ALWAYS. If you know my personality (and some of you won't) you know I'm sarcastic and sometimes say things that make me sound like a bitch, but it's hardly ever serious. I kid-A LOT-but this is all the disclaimer you will get.
This isn't health advice. I am not telling anyone how to eat or to do what I'm doing. This isn't a diet plan, this isn't anything. This is what I'm doing and it's a learning process for me to see if I can live a healthier lifestyle and be happy while doing it. I don't know shit about health, that's the whole point of this. I'm just documenting myself as I piss into the wind and hope for the best.
I'll be tracking the changes in my body (tone, skin, hair, nails, etc.),any foods/recipes or vitamins I've been eating or taking, struggles, excitements-whatever.
It will all be here-better or worse.
xx D.
